| 正面描述 | Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist standing in high relief, robed in flowing drapery with fine vertical striations, his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand holding a staff or cross. A nimbus (halo) surrounds the bearded saint's head, rendered in the Gothic style typical of late 14th-century Aragonese coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounds the figure in the field, reading S IOHANNES B. |

Juan I of Aragon inherited Majorca as part of the Crown of Aragon's consolidated territories, and his Majorcan florin fractions were struck in direct imitation of the Florentine florin — a deliberate policy to facilitate Mediterranean trade by mirroring a currency already trusted by merchants from Barcelona to Alexandria. The half denomination was a practical concession to small-value transactions that full florins simply couldn't serve.
Juan's reign ended abruptly with his death in 1396 during a hunting accident, cutting the issue short at under a decade.
