Obverse description Central field depicts a standing full-length figure of Saint Andrew, shown facing frontally and draped in robes, bearing his characteristic saltire cross (X-shaped cross) which extends diagonally across the field. A nimbus surrounds the saint's head. The surrounding circular legend reads SANCTVS ANDREAS in Gothic uncial characters, identifying the patron saint of Burgundy.

Reverse description Central device consists of a quartered heraldic shield displaying the combined arms of Burgundy, Brabant, and Limburg, rendered in the late medieval Gothic style typical of Burgundian coinage under Charles the Bold. The shield is set within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a circular legend in Gothic uncial characters carrying the duke's full title. Pellet or star stops separate the abbreviated words of the inscription.
