Obverse description A stylized hooded cobra (naga) rendered in bold relief occupies the central field, its hood spread and body coiled in a sinuous form characteristic of South Indian fanam coinage. A solar symbol and a crescent moon appear flanking or above the serpent, representing the celestial emblems commonly associated with Hindu dynastic iconography. The design is deeply struck in the primitive hammered style typical of Deccan gold fanams of the late 18th century, with an irregular planchet edge.
