Baj Bahadur's reign over Malwa lasted barely five years before Akbar's Mughal forces under Adham Khan overran the sultanate in 1561. The conquest was swift and brutal enough that it effectively ended independent coin production at Mandu. Surviving copper issues from this terminal phase are scarce precisely because the mints had so little time to operate before the administration collapsed entirely.
