| Beschrijving voorzijde | Type VI counterstamp applied to the host coin, consisting of a lion passant depicted within a small circle of approximately 5 mm diameter. The lion motif is surrounded by a circular legend reading HABILITADA POR EL GOBIERNO, indicating official government authorization. The counterstamp was applied to validate circulating coinage for use in Costa Rica during the mid-nineteenth century. The punch impression is contained within a well-defined raised border, characteristic of the standardized counterstamp dies employed by the Costa Rican government. |
