Obverse description Facing enthroned effigy of King Enrique IV of Castile and León, shown seated frontally on a Gothic throne, crowned and robed in royal vestments, holding a sword upright in his right hand and an orb in his left. Flanking the throne are heraldic eagles with spread wings, rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of Castilian hammered gold coinage. The central design is set within a multi-lobed or lobular inner border, with the Latin legend ENRICVS : QUART running along the outer periphery of the flan.
