| Obverse description | Facing enthroned effigy of King Enrique IV of Castile, crowned and robed in royal vestments, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb or sword in his left, rendered in the Gothic hammered style typical of mid-15th century Castilian gold coinage. Two attendant figures flank the king on either side, standing in the field. The design is contained within a beaded or rope inner circle. The surrounding legend reads + ENRICVS: CVARTVS: DEI: GRAC in Latin capitals, separated by decorative stops. |
