| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Philip II facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and pauldron with fine engraved detail. The king's bearded effigy is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance portrait style characteristic of Spanish Netherlands coinage. The date 1586 is inscribed in two parts flanking the base of the bust in the lower field. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner border of a beaded outer circle, with pellet stops separating the abbreviated titulature. |
