Obverse description Youthful draped bust of Louis XV facing right, his hair elaborately curled in the fashion of the early 18th century with long locks falling over the shoulder. The effigy, engraved by Norbert Roettiers, conveys a refined Baroque portrait style characteristic of the Regency period. A small decorative rosette appears at the base of the bust below the truncation. The circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, separated from the toothed border by a flat rim.

Reverse description Centrally placed crowned oval shield bearing the fleur-de-lis arms of France, encircled by a laurel wreath. The elaborate royal crown surmounts the shield, rendered in fine detail with fleurs-de-lis and arches. The date and mint mark appear within the circular Latin legend, which runs along the inner border. The entire design is framed by a toothed outer rim. The type is known as the 'écu aux lauriers' or laurel wreath ecu of Louis XV.
