Obverse description Draped bust of Louis I, Prince of Monaco, facing right, wearing a long flowing wig and lace cravat in the French baroque court fashion of the late 17th century. The effigy is rendered in high relief with considerable detail in the hair and garment folds. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading from the lower left and separated by pellets between abbreviated words.
