| Obverse description | The obverse bears a three-line Latin legend in bold relief reading 'D / GEL / RIÆ', with the date 1756 inscribed below in the lower field. Flanking the uppermost line are two rosette ornaments, and at the bottom of the field, between two additional rosettes, appears the mint privy mark in the form of a small crane bird. The design is entirely typographic, without a central effigy or wreath, presenting the provincial name of Gelderland in abbreviated Latin genitive form. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the crowned coat of arms of the Province of Gelderland at centre, a quartered or bipartite shield bearing two rampant lions facing one another, surmounted by an elaborate arched crown with foliate and beaded ornament. The Latin legend 'IN DEO SP . NOS', an abbreviated form of 'In Deo Spes Nostra' (In God is our Hope), encircles the shield, divided by the arms to either side. The overall composition is bold and heraldic, consistent with the provincial coinage tradition of the Dutch Republic. |
