The Kingdom of Holland existed for just four years, 1806–1810, before Napoleon annexed it directly into the French Empire after his brother Louis proved too independent-minded — Louis repeatedly refused to enforce the Continental System to the detriment of Dutch merchants. Coins struck under his reign occupy an unusually narrow window, and the 1809 issues were among the last before absorption made them obsolete almost immediately.
Scholten 1320 is a genuinely scarce reference, with surviving examples in any condition appearing infrequently at auction. The gold composition at this fractional denomination was almost certainly a prestige or presentation-adjacent decision rather than a practical monetary one.
