The design follows the classic 'Silver Rider' (Zilveren Rijder) type common to the Dutch provincial coinage of the seventeenth century. The surrounding Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery, identifying the issuing authority. The die work, characteristic of hammered provincial issues, exhibits bold relief in the equestrian figure and heraldic shield. |
