| Obverse description | A fully armored knight on a charging horse galloping to the right, brandishing a raised sword in his right hand, positioned above the crowned arms of Holland. The design is contained within a beaded or plain inner circle, with the mint mark incorporated at the close of the peripheral legend. The horse and rider are rendered in high relief with fine detail characteristic of early Dutch hammered coinage. The legend runs along the outer periphery in Roman capitals. |

| Reverse description | The crowned heraldic arms of the Seven United Provinces of the Netherlands, displayed centrally within a dotted inner circle, flanked on each side by a rampant crowned lion acting as supporter. The date 1659 appears at the conclusion of the peripheral legend, positioned at the top of the coin. The legend is rendered in Roman capitals and encircles the entire design. The overall composition reflects the formal heraldic style common to Dutch provincial coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
