Two decorative rosettes flank the keys on either side. The circular Latin legend reads CLEMENS VII PONTIF MAX, identifying the issuer as Pope Clement VII, Supreme Pontiff. The coin's irregular flan and beaded border are characteristic of the hammered technique employed at the Rome Mint during this period. |
