Obverse description Crowned and draped bust of King Carlos II of Spain and Naples facing right, wearing an elaborate crown adorned with floral ornaments and long flowing hair. The king's armor is visible at the shoulder, decorated with a lion-head pauldron. A mint mark 'M' appears in the lower field beneath the bust. The surrounding legend reads CAR·II·D·G·REX·HISP·ET·NEAP·, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and Naples by the grace of God. The portrait is rendered in a finely detailed Baroque style characteristic of late seventeenth-century Neapolitan coinage.
