Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and tied back, with a lace-trimmed décolletage visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque court portrait style. The circular legend surrounds the bust, reading M THERES D G to the right and R I HUN BOH REG to the left, separated by stops. The coin's milled border frames the design with a fine beaded inner rim.

Reverse description Crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head facing outward to either side beneath a single imperial crown. The eagle bears on its breast an ornate escutcheon of the Habsburg arms. The date 1770 appears in the upper field to the left, with the denomination mark 1/2 in the exergue below the eagle's talons, flanked by the mintmaster initials H and G. The circular legend reads A AU DUX B M P TRAN CO TYR, distributed around the periphery between beaded borders.
