Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Frederick August I in the Baroque style, wearing a flowing long-haired wig and armored cuirass with ornate collar and drapery. The effigy is rendered in high relief with considerable detail in the periwig curls and lace cravat. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading FRID: AUGUST: D: G: REX POL: & EL: SAX:, identifying the ruler as King of Poland and Elector of Saxony by the grace of God. The field is plain and the legend is separated from the rim by a beaded border.
