1/2 Ducat - Eberhard III

Eberhard III ruled Württemberg through one of the duchy's most destructive periods — the Thirty Years' War consumed the first decade of his reign, reducing the population of some Württemberg territories by more than half through plague, famine, and military occupation. That the duchy was producing gold coinage at all during the early 1630s is itself remarkable. Swedish and Imperial forces moved through the region repeatedly, and Württemberg's minting activity was severely disrupted.

The Friedberg reference 3571 places this among a small family of Württemberg ducats struck across multiple denominations under Eberhard III, with production continuing well into the post-Westphalia recovery years after 1648.
