| 背面描述 | An imperial crown surmounted above crossed palm and laurel branches occupies the upper portion of the field, below which a five-line commemorative inscription recording the coronation event and the date 1619 is displayed. The text is arranged in a tabular format typical of Frankfurt coronation coinage of the period, with each line of the legend neatly separated. The milled border frames the entire composition. |

Struck to mark the coronation of Ferdinand II as Holy Roman Emperor in Frankfurt on July 28, 1619 — a ceremony that took place even as Bohemian Protestant nobles were in open revolt, having defenestrated his royal governors in Prague just the year before. The coronation itself proceeded under considerable political strain, and within weeks Ferdinand faced the formal deposition offered to Frederick V of the Palatinate. Frankfurt, as the traditional site of imperial elections and coronations, issued these pieces as customary largesse, scattered among crowds or distributed to dignitaries.
The half-ducat format suggests distribution use rather than presentation. Fr#968 is among the scarcer of the Frankfurt coronation fractions from this reign.
