Obverse description A rampant lion facing left dominates the field, brandishing a raised sword in its right forepaw while supporting with its left an oval shield bearing the horizontally divided arms of Zürich. A small oval cartouche at the base of the design contains the denomination mark '1/2'. The circumferential Latin legend reads REIPUBLICAE TIGURINAE, distributed around the periphery within a milled border. The composition is rendered in high relief with fine engraving characteristic of early 18th-century Swiss municipal coinage.
