The shield is rendered with fine engraving detail characteristic of mid-17th-century Swiss mint work. | Opis rewersu | Three-line Latin inscription ANNO / DOMINI / and the date (e.g. 1654) occupying the central field, enclosed within a finely detailed laurel and olive wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow and surmounted by a floral ornament at the apex. The wreath branches are rendered with individually articulated leaves and berries in high relief. The entire device is surrounded by a milled or grained border consistent with the obverse. |
