Obverse description Central field occupied by the oval arms of Zürich — per bend sinister sable and argent — set within an elaborate baroque cartouche with scrolled acanthus volutes and a floral finial at the apex. The shield is rendered with fine engraving detail characteristic of mid-17th-century Swiss mint work. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, separated from the milled border by a plain inner rim.

Reverse description Three-line Latin inscription ANNO / DOMINI / and the date (e.g. 1654) occupying the central field, enclosed within a finely detailed laurel and olive wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow and surmounted by a floral ornament at the apex. The wreath branches are rendered with individually articulated leaves and berries in high relief. The entire device is surrounded by a milled or grained border consistent with the obverse.
