Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a three-line Arabic inscription within a rectangular cartouche framed by plain horizontal bars at top and bottom, with a row of small dots below the lower bar. The central legend reads 'nim falus' (half falus) with the issuing authority 'Honourable Company' (آنرابل كمپني) and the Christian-era date 1808 (١٨٠٨ عيسوي) arranged in three horizontal lines. The design is typographic in character, with no figurative elements, reflecting the Mughal-influenced administrative tradition of the Madras Presidency coinage. The lettering is rendered in a bold Naskh-style Arabic script with well-defined strokes. The plain field around the cartouche is unadorned.
