| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Othon (Otto of Greece) facing left, with naturalistically rendered wavy hair swept back from the forehead and a small mustache, executed in a refined neoclassical style. The truncation of the neck is plain and unadorned. The circular legend ΟΘΩΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ (OTHON KING OF GREECE) runs along the entire periphery in Greek characters. The field is smooth, and the coin is bordered by a continuous inner ring of fine beading. |
