Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Charles Emmanuel III facing right, wearing a long curled wig in the baroque court style. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing on the lace cravat and armor breastplate. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading CAR EM D G REX CYP ET IER, with the date 1742 incorporated into the legend. The field is smooth, and the portrait fills the coin face with commanding presence characteristic of Savoyard royal coinage of the period.
