Obverse description Conjoined busts of Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver in right-facing profile occupy the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The legend BOOKER T. WASHINGTON and GEORGE W. CARVER identifies the two effigies. Two concentric rings of lettering frame the portrait: the outer legend reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * E PLURIBUS UNUM * IN GOD WE TRUST, while LIBERTY and HALF DOLLAR appear within the inner ring. The date appears at the base of the design.
