| Reverse description | The reverse presents an allegorical figure of Lady Justice occupying the central field, holding the scales of justice in her left hand and the U.S. Marshals Service star badge in her right hand. Surrounding her are symbolic objects referencing the historical responsibilities of the Marshals Service, including a copy of the U.S. Constitution, a stack of school books, handcuffs, and a whiskey jug, arranged in the lower field. The national legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the denomination HALF DOLLAR completing the inscriptions. The design was engraved by Phebe Hemphill in the detailed relief style characteristic of United States Mint commemorative half dollars. |
