Fiji's licensing arrangements with foreign minting houses — primarily the Pobjoy Mint and later others — have made it one of the most prolific issuers of novelty bullion and collector pieces despite having no meaningful domestic minting infrastructure. This titanium half dollar is a product of that model: Fiji provides the legal tender framework, the foreign producer handles everything else.

Titanium coinage remains genuinely difficult to strike cleanly, which is why so few mints attempt it at volume.
