Reverse description The reverse presents a full-length standing figure of a Native American brave, depicted in a powerful, heroic pose with right arm outstretched and a bow held horizontally in the left hand. The figure stands before an incuse outline map of the United States, with the route of the Oregon Trail faintly traced across the field. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is distributed across the mid-field on either side of the central figure, while HALF DOLLAR curves along the lower border. The design, executed by Laura Gardin Fraser, combines symbolic and cartographic elements in a composition of striking artistic originality.
