Obverse description Conjoined busts of a Dutch settler and an Algonquin Native American facing right, their profiles partially overlapping to symbolize the peaceful coexistence between European colonists and the indigenous inhabitants of Long Island. The design, executed in high relief, presents the two figures in close juxtaposition within the coin's field. The legend LIBERTY appears to the upper left, and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed to the upper right along the rim.
