Beschrijving voorzijde Gold-plated effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, rendered in a highly detailed, sculptural style against a darkened field. The portrait is engraved after the fourth definitive effigy by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II to the left and SOLOMON ISLANDS to the upper right, with HALF DOLLAR to the right and the date 2022 at the base, all in gold-toned raised lettering separated by raised dot stops.

Aanvullende informatie

The Solomon Islands has issued commemorative coinage under its own authority since independence in 1978, but the proliferation of privately commissioned "collector" pieces — struck by external mints and marketed through telemarketing and online channels — accelerated sharply in the 2000s. This piece falls squarely into that category: a gold-plated base metal issue with no connection to Solomons history or culture, produced to a face value of fifty cents on an island nation where the average annual income makes such denominations entirely nominal.

Legal tender status is granted by arrangement, not by any organic monetary need. The issuing relationship with the Central Bank is contractual.
