| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and wearing a pearl earring, occupying the central field of the annular sector-shaped flan. The legend SOLOMON ISLANDS arcs along the upper border, with the denomination HALF DOLLAR flanking the portrait to left and right respectively. The date 2020 appears along the lower border, and the engraver's initials IRB are visible below the truncation of the bust. Greek-key decorative borders frame the upper and lower edges of the coin. |

Issued to mark the 245th anniversary of the April 1775 engagement at Lexington Green, where the first shots of the American Revolutionary War were fired between Massachusetts militiamen and British regulars. The exact order of who fired first has never been established — a question that was politically inconvenient from the moment the smoke cleared.
