The Battle of Britain commemorative market has become genuinely crowded, with dozens of issuers producing silver-plated pieces annually for the collector trade. Solomon Islands — a Commonwealth realm with Elizabeth II as head of state — issues a high volume of such pieces through licensing arrangements with European coin marketing firms, bearing little connection to the event commemorated beyond the legal authority to strike in her name.
