| Opis awersu | The obverse of this cut and countermarked piece bears three crowned 'SV' monogram punches — representing Saint Vincent — applied in a triangular arrangement across the irregular surface of the one-third segment cut from a Spanish or Spanish Colonial 8 Reales host coin. Each countermark is struck within a shaped punch and displays the royal crown surmounting the conjoined initials 'S' and 'V'. A silver plug, inserted to bring the piece to the correct tariffed weight for circulation, is visible within the field and disrupts the partially discernible underlying host coin design. Residual design elements of the host 8 Reales remain faintly visible in the field between the applied countermarks. |
