Reverse description The reverse depicts the historic Charter Oak, a large and ancient tree rendered in naturalistic detail with sprawling branches and dense foliage occupying the majority of the field. A smaller figure of a man is visible at the lower left near the base of the tree. A tablet inscribed THE CHARTER OAK appears in the lower right field. The legend CONNECTICUT arcs prominently along the lower rim, flanked by the commemorative dates 1635-1935 denoting the tercentenary of the Connecticut colony.
