Aanvullende informatie

The Continental Marines were established by a resolution of the Continental Congress on November 10, 1775 — a date the U.S. Marine Corps still celebrates as its birthday. They were originally raised to serve aboard the first ships of the Continental Navy, with Samuel Nicholas commissioned as the first officer. The corps was effectively disbanded after the Revolutionary War and not formally re-established until 1798.

Niue's authority to issue legal tender coins is grounded in a 1981 arrangement with New Zealand, whose currency Niue otherwise uses domestically.
