Reverse description The central device features the stylized Atlanta 1996 Olympic flame torch rising from a horizontal bar above the five interlocked Olympic rings, with three stars ascending from the flame's tip. The denomination 'HALF DOLLAR' is inscribed to either side of the torch in the field, and the numeral '100' appears below the rings, commemorating the centennial of the modern Olympic Games. The peripheral legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' arcs across the upper border, separated by a star from 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' along the right. The lower border bears the inscription 'Atlanta 1996' flanked by stars. The San Francisco Mint mark 'S' appears to the right of the Olympic rings, with engravers' initials MF and TDR visible in the lower field.
