Obverse description The obverse features the overlapping busts of three American service members representing the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, gazing upward toward the upper right of the field in a composition evoking unity and resolve. Behind the figures, a partial American flag unfurls diagonally across the upper field, above which a military aircraft flies in profile against a arc of thirteen five-pointed stars along the upper rim. The legend LIBERTY runs vertically along the left rim, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears to the right in the field; the commemorative date range 1991-1995 is inscribed vertically along the right rim, with the mint year 1993 incorporated within the design.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a helmeted infantryman in full combat gear, prone and aiming a rifle atop a sandy beachhead, evoking the amphibious island-hopping campaigns of the Pacific Theater. A damaged palm tree rises to the right of the central figure, while a warship and a diving enemy aircraft are rendered in the background at left and upper left respectively, conveying the multi-dimensional nature of World War II combat. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper rim, the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears in the lower field above the denomination HALF DOLLAR, which is inscribed prominently along the lower rim. The Philadelphia Mint mark P is visible in the lower central field. The engraver's initials TNF appear in the lower right field.
