The inscriptions, rendered in the angular Kufic script characteristic of early Fatimid coinage, contain religious formulae and the name of the Caliph Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah. The overall design follows the aniconic epigraphic tradition of Islamic numismatics, with no figural imagery. |
