| Obverse description | The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a vicuna in the upper left quarter, a cinchona tree in the upper right quarter, and a cornucopia in the lower half, all surmounted by a civic wreath of palm and laurel branches tied at the base. The date 1885 appears in the exergue below the wreath. The circular legend around the periphery reads REPUB: PERUANA CUZCO 9 D: FINO J.M., indicating the issuing republic, the Cuzco mint, and the fineness designation with assayer initials. |
