The legend references the Hafsid ruler Abu 'Amr 'Uthman with his honorifics as Commander of the Faithful. A marginal inscription runs around the outer field between the square cartouche and the coin's irregular edge, separated by a dotted border. The hammered flan is slightly irregular, typical of Hafsid gold coinage of the fifteenth century, with flat fields and moderately struck legends. |
