Reverse description Central square cartouche enclosing four lines of Arabic inscription naming the ruler and his titles, arranged horizontally within the frame. The legend references the Hafsid ruler Abu 'Amr 'Uthman with his honorifics as Commander of the Faithful. A marginal inscription runs around the outer field between the square cartouche and the coin's irregular edge, separated by a dotted border. The hammered flan is slightly irregular, typical of Hafsid gold coinage of the fifteenth century, with flat fields and moderately struck legends.
