The 2006 Bahraini half-dinar belongs to the series introduced after Bahrain's formal transition from the Bahrain Monetary Agency to the Central Bank of Bahrain, established by Law No. 64 of 2006. The institutional change was largely administrative — the monetary policy framework remained continuous — but the new notes were required to reflect the renamed authority, making this issue the first under the Central Bank name rather than a routine reprint.
Thomas De La Rue's involvement with Bahraini currency printing stretches back decades, and the security specification here — watermark and thread only — places this at the modest end of the series' protection hierarchy, typical for the lowest-denomination note in the range.
