Obverse description Central aluminium-bronze field depicts a fully armoured equestrian warrior facing left, mounted on a caparisoned horse rendered in fine detail, evoking traditional Libyan martial heritage. The figure carries a lance or rifle over the shoulder and sits astride the horse in a commanding posture. Surrounding the central disc, the copper-nickel ring bears the Arabic legend denoting the Hijri year 1372 after the death of the Prophet at the top, and the full official state title — The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya — running around the remainder of the ring in Arabic script.
