| Descrizione del dritto | Central field dominated by the heraldic achievement of William V of Bronckhorst-Batenburg, consisting of a large crowned lion passant above an ornate quartered shield bearing the arms of Batenburg, supported by elaborate Renaissance foliate and strapwork mantling. A diagonal sword or lance bisects the composition, adding a martial element to the design. The arms are rendered in a bold, deeply struck hammered style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. The circumferential Latin legend, separated from the field by a plain inner border, reads: ✠ GVIL ⋆ D ⋆ BRONC ⋆ LIBER BARO ⋆ IN ⋆ BATENBORG, identifying William of Bronckhorst as Free Baron of Batenburg. |

The eagle's wings are spread wide, its feathers shown in detailed relief, and its talons are prominently depicted at the base. A shield or orb is positioned on the breast of the eagle. The surrounding Latin legend, running along the coin's periphery within a plain border, reads: CAROL ⋆ V ⋆ ROMANO ⋆ IMPE ⋆ SEMPER ⋆ AVGVSTVS, invoking the authority of Emperor Charles V as overlord under whose suzerainty this baronial coinage was struck. |
