| Obverse description | Four applied hammer stamps arranged on the plain silver field of this klippe emergency issue. The central stamp bears the Haarlem civic coat of arms, flanked to one side by the arms of Holland; a silversmith's control mark appears at the top, and the date is struck below. The stamps vary by silversmith's mark depending on the assayer, with known varieties including a crescent with star, three stars, a lis, a half lion, and a skull. The overall composition reflects the exigency of wartime production, with each stamp applied individually rather than struck from a unified die. |
