Obverse description Within a dotted inner circle, a fully armored knight stands facing left with head turned to the right, wearing a plumed helmet and holding a ribbon or lance in his raised right hand; to his left stands a shield charged with a rampant lion sinister. The design is executed in the bold relief characteristic of Dutch Republic hammered coinage, with the figure occupying the full height of the inner circle. The Latin legend runs along the outer periphery, separated from the central device by the beaded border.
