Reverse description A bold Portuguese Cross of the Order of Christ occupies the central field, formed by a double-outlined cross with flared, concave terminals. Each of the four quadrants formed by the cross arms contains a cinquefoil rosette ornament. The circular Latin legend IN • HOC • SIGNO • VINCES ('In this sign thou shalt conquer') surrounds the cross, separated by pellet stops, with a milled border at the rim.
