| Obverse description | First laureate and draped bust of King William III facing right, with truncation visible at shoulder. The effigy displays the king in classical style with a laurel wreath upon his head. The legend GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA runs around the periphery, with the Norwich mint mark letter N positioned below the bust. The portrait is rendered in the style attributed to engraver Johann Croker, characteristic of the early milled coinage Great Recoinage period. |
