| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of William III, rendered in the first bust style as engraved by John Croker, with long flowing hair falling over the shoulder and a plain truncation. The effigy is bold and finely detailed, occupying the majority of the obverse field. The circumferential legend reads GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA in Latin characters, interrupted by small decorative stops. The portrait closely follows the first bust type as standardized for the post-1696 milled coinage recoinage series. |
